There are many driving schools in Clydebank to choose from, but we feel that Driving Matter offers driving lessons that give you that little bit extra.
All of our instructors are fully-qualified Approved Driving Instructors (ADI), rather than the trainee instructors that some other local schools use. That means that they have been tested to make sure that they have excellent teaching skills as well as driving skills. Our instructors have been chosen because they have a friendly, patient and knowledgeable style – meaning that can encourage and give confidence to even the most nervous of beginners.
Since we regularly teach lessons in Clydebank, all of our instructors are very familiar with the road and driving conditions – not just here, but in and around Anniesland Test Centre as well, since this is the nearest test centre for pupils learning to drive in Clydebank.
To speak to us about starting learning to drive, or if you have any questions after reading our website, please contact Robert on 07447 928 225 or by email. Robert will be only too pleased to answer all your questions, and will then recommend the specific instructor that he thinks is right for you – given your particular requirements and availability for lessons.
Driving Around Clydebank
Clydebank is a town in West Dunbartonshire with a fairly substantial population of around 30,000, named for it’s location on the north side of Glasgow’s main river. Neighbouring communities include Hardgate, Drumry, Yoker, Duntocher, Dalmuir, Faifley, Whitecrook and Old Kilpatrick. Clydebank is also home to the well-known Clyde Shopping Centre off Kilbowie Road, with car parking facilities available for up to 2,500 vehicles – giving you some idea of the amount of visitors the shopping centre attracts at peak times.
In terms of features you might encounter while driving, Clydebank has a great number of schools, at both Primary and Secondary level, and care must be taken on roads around these schools. Restrictions may be in place affecting speed limits, marked by signs that flash when pupils are likely to be entering or leaving the school, with the usual 30mph limit reduced to 20mph while in operation. An additional consideration is the restriction to on-street parking a short distance either side of school crossings – these are marked with a white zig-zag pattern, and are designed to give increased visibility of children who may be about to cross the road without due consideration for road users!
Some of the Primary Schools in Clydebank you may encounter while practising your driving skills between lessons include Goldenhill Primary School, St Joseph’s Primary School, Edinbarnet Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School, Carleith Primary School, St Eunan’s Primary School, Kilbowie Primary School, St Stephen’s Primary School, Our Lady of Loretto Primary School, Clydemuir Primary School, Gavinburn Primary School, Whitecrook Primary School, Linnvale Primary School, Our Holy Redeemer’s Primary School – to name but a few!
There are also Secondary Schools and Colleges in the are, including Clydebank High School, St Peter the Apostle High School, Clydebank Technical Education Centre and Clydebank College – which should also be approached with care during peak hours.
Quiet roads you may find useful for practising certain manoeuvres between lessons – such as moving off / stopping, changing gears, parking exercises, and more – include Beardmore Way and Beardmore Street. Busier roads that will help you to develop your more advanced skills – such as forward thinking and town driving – include Dumbarton Road, Drumry Road, Kilbowie Road. Though obviously watch out as these major roads can get very busy at peak times. Additionally, you will find several roundabouts in Clydebank that you can use to practice safe roundabout use, including a few near Clydebank Shopping Centre, as well as some near Great Western Retail Park on Allerdyce Road.
